The AI Skills Lab module is all about understanding what it means to build confidence with AI -  not just accumulate more tools, tricks, or technical know-how. For many of us, AI feels overwhelming, intimidating, or overhyped, but it doesn’t have to be. This session is designed to demystify AI and show you how small, human-centred habits can make it a powerful part of your everyday work and life.

Led by our expert, Tim Allen, National AI Skills Director for Microsoft Australia & New Zealand, we explore why AI represents a new kind of shift, one that isn’t just technological but behavioural. We look at the mindsets that make AI easier to adopt, the common blockers that hold people back, and the practical steps anyone can take to move from curiosity to capability.

You’ll also reflect on your own relationship with AI: where you feel confident, where you feel unsure, and what “above average” might look like for you in an AI-powered world.

By the end, you’ll walk away with a clearer sense of how to start (or deepen) your AI journey, how to prioritise what matters, and how to build skills that will continue to grow long after the tools evolve.
